Rochester, N.Y. - Rochester Police say 32 year old Jamar Washington was shot dead in the doorway of his home late Tuesday night.
Rochester Police Chief James Sheppard said someone in the home heard the doorbell ring and then a shot rang out. They discovered Washington dead near the front door. He was shot in the chest.
Chief Shepard says it's possible the victim may have known his killer, but it's too early in the investigation.
This was the second time tragedy hit the Washington family.
Jamar's older brother Michael was shot to death three years ago this month on Woodlawn Avenue.
Jamar's uncle, Bruce Washington tells us "Jamar was a good man, a good father, he loved his children and would do anything for them and anyone.'
Washington said "we don't know what happened or why this happened."
The family's grief turned to anger when they learned Jamar's home was burglarized hours after he was killed. Rochester Police were called back to the home to dust for fingerprints and look for evidence related to the break-in.
Washington said someone stole a television off the wall and some jewelry.
Rochester Police are still searching for suspects. If you have any information call Crimestoppers. That number is 423-9300.
