Delta Airlines is facing some pretty stiff penalties for allegedly flying planes that were not in compliance with Federal Aviation Administration regulations.
The fines total almost $1 million and involve maintenance infractions. The first fine is for failing to repair a chip in the nose radome. That's the cone on an airplane that protects a plane's radar antenna.
The FAA says Delta also failed to repair a broken cockpit floodlight socket.
The airline has 30 days from the receipt of the FAA's enforcement letters to respond to the agency.
