Elmira, N.Y. -- Democrats have chosen their candidate to run for the 29th District Congressional seat vacated by Eric Massa, but they aren't saying yet who it is.
The Democratic Party Chairman of Steuben County, Hornell mayor Shawn Hogan, tells the Elmira Star Gazette they have a consensus candidate, who will formally announce his candidacy next week.
Massa resigned his seat in March, citing health concerns and amid allegations of sexual harassment involving a male aide.
To date, former Corning mayor Tom Reed (R) is the only declared candidate, and Governor David Paterson has not announced a date for a special election.
