Pittsford, N.Y. - Monroe County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating a deadly hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian.
Deputies responded to the area of East Avenue and Kilbourn Road in Pittsford just before 7 p.m. Monday for a report of a body on the roadway.
Deputies said they found a man in his 30s lying on the side of East Avenue. He was taken to Strong Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Later that evening, at about 9:45, a man called 911 and told investigators he was the driver in question.
He said he’d hit what he believed was a garbage can.
No charges have been filed at this time, but the investigation is active.
