(Rochester, N.Y.) -- A spokesperson for the Rochester Police Department said that injured Officer Anthony DiPonzio got to leave the rehab facility and go home for a few hours this past weekend to visit with family and friends.
The RPD said DiPonzio is doing well in his rehabilitation and remains in good spirits and he can walk slowly with limited assistance.
He was able to visit his home for a few hours on both Saturday and Sunday. He is currently at the brain injury unit at St Mary's Hospital.
DiPonzio was shot in the head while on duty in January.
