If you Google the officers name and even Rivera’s name you can see just how many news agencies have carried this news. I have heard of officer and well wishers sending note and thoughts from as far away as England. Granted this is in the law enforcement realm and news there travels very fast.

Mamaotis, this police officer is still alive so I dont think he will make that list but its pretty eye opening as to how many police officers die in the line of duty. Thanks to quick thinking and modern medicine this officer is still alive.

mamaotis, By no means do I feel that this incident is any less significant, but unfortunally go to www.odmp.org and read about these officer's deaths. There has been 10 officers killed across the nation this year. Read about their ages and whom they're survived by. Look at the dates of the deaths from this year and previous years. You'll be surprised to see that they occur almost every other day.

I don't think mamaotis07 was asking for national donations. I think the question was....why doesn't the rest of the country know about this, this is important. We here about wildfires in California and everytime Oprah puts that 100lbs back on it makes National news.....something is not right about what goes out and where it goes. This kid could have been in Florida for all we knew and nobody down there would know it and report it if there was a picture posted......Everybody, give if you can and if you can't...pray for this young officer

National news? It was on the local news this morning. I support this officer (all police officers for that matter) but I think you'd have trouble getting people to donate on a national level.

Could someone please tell me why a story like this has not made the national news?
