Rochester, N.Y. - The generosity of people in the Rochester area shined on December 8 for the first ROC the Day donation drive.
The 24-hour online campaign asked people to make donations to local charities.
A total of 6,600 donors gave or pledged $564,970 to help nonprofit organizations throughout the Rochester area.
Nearly 700 charities in the nine-county Rochester region benefited from the one-day donation drive.
"The greater Rochester community is known to be a generous community, and has a justified reputation for that," said Todd Butler, President and CEO of the Ad Council of Rochester. "I think ROC the Day represents an opportunity for people to make an additional gift, if they already give, or to find a new organization that they can support."
