Henrietta, N.Y. - The sound of chainsaws echoed through neighborhoods, Tuesday, a welcomed sound to Betty Folwell of Henrietta, who had a large willow tree downed in her yard.
“I didn't hear anything,” said Folwell. “I heard a crash, but I didn't think it was the tree.”
Folwell woke up to find the willow tree she planted four decades ago covering her yard and blocking her driveway.
”I thought it was a mess,’ said Folwell. “That tree's been there a long time.”
J.M. Tree Service arrived late Tuesday morning to remove the tree.
“We didn't see a lot of damage to healthy trees in this storm,” said Joshua Miesch, owner of J.M. Tree Service. “We saw a lot of trees that were already decayed and susceptible to wind and storm damage.”
But damaged or not it didn't stop the birds from perching on Folwell’s willow tree one last time.
“I guess God wanted that tree more then I did,” said Folwell.
Not all trees damaged in the storm came down. Arborist recommend having someone look at a damaged tree that's still standing, to make sure it will stay standing in future storms.
