Pittsford, N.Y. - An Irondequoit man now faces charges in a deadly hit-and-run crash Monday night in Pittsford.

Michael Hanna, 30, is charged with leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in death, and was ticketed for an unregistered vehicle.

Monroe County Sheriff's Deputies said Hanna it and killed Vaughn Steele, 26, as he was walking along East Avenue and Kilbourn Road in Pittsford just before 7 p.m. Monday.

Investigators said Hanna called 911 three hours later. Deputies said Hanna told them he thought he had hit a garbage can.

Hanna appeared in court on the charges Thursday, and was released on $1,000 bail.
