Alabama, N.Y. - A Hamlin man suffered serious injuries after crashing his truck into a garbage truck early Thursday morning.
Genesee County Sheriff's Deputies said Charles Scorse, 22, was working the night shift in Greece. He was on his way to buy cigarettes at a Native American reservation, when deputies said he fell asleep at the wheel, and crashed into a Waste Management garbage truck.
The garbage truck was stopped to empty a garbage can at the time of the crash. Deputies said the Waste Management employee alerted Scorse to get out of the truck, because it was on fire.
Scorse was taken to Erie County Medical Center by Mercy Flight helicopter. Deputies said his injuries are serious, and possibly life-threatening.
