Rochester, N.Y. – The water at Durand Eastman Beach could be cleaner in years to come.

The City of Rochester plans to install a water-filtration system to treat runoff from a nearby swamp.

The beach reopened in 2006, but it has problems with bacteria, especially after heavy rainfall.

The system will cost nearly $1 million. City council will vote on it this month.
