LeRoy, N.Y.- The EPA will do more water sampling next month at the site of a 1970’s train derailment in LeRoy.
It’s in response to community concerns over a strange illness affecting a dozen students at LeRoy High School.
At least twelve girls are suffering from tics and uncontrollable movements.
The teens have been diagnosed with a neurological condition called “conversion disorder.”
Some question whether something environmental may be to blame.
The EPA said it tests the old train derailment site every quarter. The next test will be in March.
Old drums containing rock and soil will also be removed by the end of the month.
The National Institutes for Health meanwhile has offered to evaluate the LeRoy students impacted.
