ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The last East End Festival of the season is Friday night in Rochester and it will be a scaled down version.
For years a large chunk of East Avenue has been shut down for the event, but not Friday. Sponsor John Hutchings tells 13WHAM News that no streets will close. The event will happen at smaller, separate venues instead of one large party.
There will still be a large stage set up in the parking lot of Easy on East on East Avenue. Because of these changes organizers expect maybe 5,000 people Friday night instead of the usual 7,000.
The changes are, in part, in reaction to other businesses and residents in the area that had complained about the closing of a public street for the event. Organizers want to show they are willing to make accommodations.
It's not clear yet if this scaled down version of the East End Fest will continue next year. The event tonight starts at 5:00 PM.
