Rochester, N.Y. – Two people were arraigned Friday in connection to the killing of an RIT adjunct professor in February.
Jerrell Henry, 27, and Natalie A. Johnson, 26, were charged with second-degree murder in the death of Edline Chun. Police believe the motive was robbery.
At a press conference Friday, Rochester Police said Chun, of 226 Hazelwood Terrace, was found shot to death in Tryon Park on Wednesday, February 6, by workers doing routine maintenance at a pure waters facility in the park.
Police said they believe Chun was murdered in her home on Sunday, February 3 and her body was then left in Tryon Park.
Authorities said Henry quickly became a person of interest in the case after excellent work by police investigators and analysts in the Monroe Crime Analysis Center. Henry had lived next door to the victim, knew her, and had been released on parole in December of 2012.
He was taken into police custody on February 7 and police said he was in possession of Chun's vehicle, which had been stolen during the crime.
He has been held in the Monroe County Jail since then on a parole violation.
Johnson, who is Henry’s girlfriend, was arrested yesterday in New York City and brought back to Rochester.
In court Friday, Henry and Johnson pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Monroe County District Attorney’s Office will present evidence to a grand jury.
A public memorial will be held for Chun on March 5 at RIT's Interfaith Chapel at 4:30 p.m.
