Wolcott, N.Y. – A 70-year-old woman was injured during an alleged robbery at a Wolcott store.

New York State Police say Devronn Roberts, 33, walked into the Bargain Seller and convinced the victim, an employee at the store, to follow him to the back where he allegedly assaulted her. State Police say Roberts kicked and punched the woman, knocked her to the ground and hit her in the head with a bottle of syrup.

Roberts fled the store after taking 20 to 30 dollars from the register.

The victim was taken to Newark/Wayne Hospital for treatment.

Police later found Roberts and arrested him on charges of robbery and criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned on the charges and taken to Wayne County Jail on $50,000 bail or $100,000 bond.
