ELMIRA, N.Y. (AP) - More than 300 customers are without electricity in the Elmira area four days after a tornado ripped through the small Southern Tier city.

The tornado that touched down Thursday afternoon packed winds of up to 110 mph and knocked out power to tens of thousands.

Chemung county officials say that NYSEG hopes to restore power to all customers by the end of Monday. Crews are still clearing away debris around Elmira.

There were 16 houses declared uninhabitable after the storm, but no injuries were reported.
