Attica, N.Y. - A former Wyoming County SPCA president must perform 75 hours of community service and pay a mandatory surcharge in connection with last year’s raid on the organization’s shelter.

70 year old Janet Foisset of Buffalo was sentenced Thursday in Town Court.

She had pleaded guilty in November to attempted evidence tampering as part of a negotiated plea.

Investigators found and removed hundreds of cats in unsanitary and overcrowded conditions following a raid at the facility last February.

Former shelter director Susan Davila was also charged in the investigation with evidence tampering and animal cruelty. She was found dead in her home in July and her case was dismissed as a result.

The Wyoming County shelter re-opened in after cleaning and renovations.
