Rochester, N.Y. - The Veterans Outreach Center is hosting a Job Expo Wednesday, Oct. 24.

According to workers at the center, despite work experience with the U.S. Army, many servicemen and women can’t find work—some of them for years.

The center hopes to have 100 local companies looking to hire local veterans. There will be employers in manufacturing (plastics, optics, steel), food service, healthcare, telecommunications, financial, security, energy, retail and human services.

There will also be representatives from colleges, universities, and training programs with information on career advancement and educational opportunities available through the Post-9/11 GI Bill.

More than 1,000 attended last year's event--which is free again this year.

It's at the Diplomat Banquet Center and Hotel on Lyell Avenue, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Veterans Outreach Center's helps vets and their families with free services, including employment counseling, training and housing for homeless vets.
