Gates, N.Y. – Ranses Beltre got to peak into the seat of an F-16 Thursday afternoon.
Two of the Fighting Falcons were parked at the Greater Rochester International Airport.
They’re here for the Geneseo Airshow this weekend.
Ranses Beltre’s visit was special. He was part of a group of kids participating in a Rochester Recreation Bureau program that offers free activities to children.
The pilots gladly showed the group the ins and outs of the jets.
“They might not all make it out to the air show so at least they can get out here and pet the jets,” said pilot Garrett Dover.
Dover says it was actually at an air show he was inspired to take to the air.
“The look at their faces, when I was there, is the best thing I’ve ever done,” Dover said.
After looking over the buttons and under belly of the plane, Beltre was sold.
“It’s awesome,” he said. “I want to be a pilot when I’m a grownup because flying planes is awesome and fun.”
