Fairport, N.Y. - The historic lift bridge on Route 250 over the Erie Canal in the village will close Monday, January 21 for repairs.
The bridge will remain closed for six weeks while crews fix deteriorating steel underneath.
Fairport's mayor Fritz May says the timing makes sense, since this is typically a slower time in the village.
Detours will be posted for drivers.
