Men who become fathers at an older age are more likely to have a child that develops autism or schizophrenia, according to a new study.
Researchers believe that random gene mutations are to blame for this.
The study, published in the online journal "Nature," found that a man in his 40s or older was about two percent more likely to have a child with autism or schizophrenia than younger parents.
Researchers did not find any link between a mother's age and these developments in children.
