Kendall, N.Y. – A Kendall man is in custody after shooting his wife, setting his home on fire, and then shooting himself Monday, according to authorities.
The Orleans County Sheriff's Office says Dennis Buehler, 64, confronted his wife, Linda Buehler, 58, as she arrived at their home on Peter Smith Road home Monday.
Authorities say shortly after 7 p.m., Dennis Buehler shot his wife in the shoulder. After a struggle, Linda Buehler fled the house to a nearby home for help.
Sheriff's deputies then established a perimeter around the Buehler residence, and Orleans County Multi-Agency SWAT was activated.
The Sheriff's Office said prior to the arrival of a SWAT team, Dennis Buehler set the house on fire, walked outside and shot himself in the face.
Both Dennis and Linda Buehler were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital and are listed in guarded condition.
The house was a total loss.
