Albany, N.Y. -- A former officer with the Rochester Police Department is facing several tax-related charges.

The Department of Taxation and Finance says James C. Hall, of Ontario, stole more than $240,000 in sales tax over a five-year period. He's also accused of underreporting $2.3 million in taxable sales at his restaurant, Union Hill Pizza and Subs. The restaurant was located in Webster and is now closed.

Hall pleaded not guilty to the charges.

He faces up to five years in prison on each charge if convicted.
