Rochester, N.Y. – On Tuesday, 13WHAM News reported about angry customers of Instant Tax Service. They were concerned about bad checks, delayed checks, high fees and misleading advertisements.
Since our report, volunteers and clients of C.A.S.H. have been trying to get the word out about the nonprofit group. It prepares tax returns for low-income filers at no charge. Last year, C.A.S.H. filed 13,000 returns with the help of 500 volunteers.
“We want to make sure people get all of the refunds that they’re legally entitled to," said Rita Garretson.
C.A.S.H. is for individuals with no children who earn $35,000 or less or parents who earn $50,000 or less.
C.A.S.H. has several offices in Monroe County. People can make appointments by calling 242-6485. People can also walk in for service, but expect to wait two hours.
