Tampa, Fla. (AP) - It's not the splashy opening Republicans hoped to have as their national nominating convention gets under way.
The damper on the GOP’s convention is Tropical Storm Isaac.
Officials cancelled all events Monday except for a symbolic, 10-minute opening because of the approaching storm. The convention will be officially gaveled to order and then recessed.
Officials have improvised to fit four days into three.
More improvisation may be required.
