USN Retired has it right on the money. Dem, Repub, Lib, Cons, matters far less than the voters turning out to vote. We are a representative democracy rather than a straight, true democracy, which means we need the participation of the people to succeed. Otherwise, surprise, the long slide into autocracy and aristocracy begins... oops... too late. Our apathy has condemned us all to the will and whim of the corporations and power-elite, so squabbling over parties is really just a distraction from the real problem - that politicians from all points of the political spectrum are going to screw us if they don't fear the power of the ballot.

Its not an opinion. Its fact. Democrat does not equal Liberal. This is one of the first things you learn in a poly sci 101 class. You can belong to a party but not share all the values. You can be a democrat and against gay marriage and big welfare. You can be a republican and for gay marriage and giving handouts away.

Breet....as far as i am concerned Democrat = Liberal its all the same Liberal surely does not equal Republican, as far as educated goes I have quite a few degrees under my belt and I am entitled to my opinion on what I feel is what it is.
