Rochester, N.Y. - A Gates-Chili High School alumnus and his partner are upset because a Conservative political group used one of their engagement pictures in attack ads in Colorado.

The original shot features Tom Privitere and Brian Edwards kissing, with the Brooklyn Bridge in the background.

Their image was then superimposed over different backgrounds and used in attack mailers.

The caption read, "State Senator Jean White's idea of 'family values.'"

Privitere's father says his first reaction was outrage.

"As a family, or as individuals, we have a moral obligation as people, and particularly as gay citizens in this country, to speak out against this kind of thing," Privitere said.

The engagement photo appeared on a gay wedding website, and was copyrighted.

The couple plans to hire to an attorney over the matter.
