Astronomers say that in clear dark skies, anywhere from 80 to 120 meteors per hour have been visible.
Although the Geminid shower peaks the night of Dec. 13/14, it will be active through December 17.
The Geminids are so named because if you trace all the meteor trails back, they would come within the boundaries of the constellation Gemini the Twins, according to
StarDate.
