Geneseo, N.Y. - Police in Livingston County credit a recent high school graduate with helping them nab a suspect who was running from them.

It started around 5:20 p.m. Thursday when a police officer tried to stop a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The driver did not comply--leading police on a chase through Leicester and York.

Livingston County Sheriff's deputies and State Police were called in to help.

Police say at times, the vehicle was going more than 100 miles per hour and driving in the wrong lane.

The driver headed back to Geneseo. When he got caught in traffic at a red light, police say he jumped out of the car and started running.

That's where Dylan Knights came in.  The Sheriff's Office says Knights tackled the suspect and held him until police caught up.

Knights is a recent graduate of Dansville High School and will be going into the U.S. Marine Corps in November.

The suspect, 27-year-old Thomas Sheflin of Scottsburg, was taken to Strong Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. Police say he faces numerous charges, including reckless endangerment.
