Google has finally unveiled its computerized glasses to the public, but most people won't be able to buy a pair yet.
Known as “Project Glass”, the device allows you to text message, take pictures and map your location, and those are just a few of the options.
The only people who can buy the device right now are developers who attended a Google conference on Wednesday. The cost is $1,500 a pair and they won't be ready for shipping until early 2013.
Part of the reason for the slow rollout is the company is looking for more developer input. And Google admits there are still a few bugs to sort out.
The glasses have come a long way in the past three years. "Project Glass" started out as a pair of ski goggles connected to a bunch of wires and computers. Now each pair weighs less than most sunglasses.
Some predict a lot of wild bidding on eBay for second-hand sales once the developers give it the green light.
