Albany, N.Y. - The Cuomo administration is launching a new website to answer questions about the state's new gun control measure signed into law this week.

The website - www.nysafeact.com helps navigate through the complex law.

The website will list the weapons that must be registered - officials say for free - under the law starting April 15.

Designated assault weapons must be registered within a year after that or owners face a misdemeanor charge.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo was criticized for negotiating the provisions in private, then not releasing the details until just before legislators voted.
