Greece Town Board to Recognize Police Officer Jon Ritter

Supervisor John Auberger and the members of the Greece Town Board will honor Greece Police Officer Jon Ritter for his heroic actions during Webster tragedy on Christmas Eve.
Officer Ritter will be recognized at the Greece Town Board meeting on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at Greece Town Hall. Officer Ritter - a 19 year member of the Greece Police Department - was on his way to work on the morning of December 24th when he encountered emergency response vehicles on Lake Road. Officer Ritter's car came under fire - that is when Ritter immediately bent over, put his car in reverse and backed up to prevent anyone else from responding to the scene.
"We will always remember the tragic events that occurred on Christmas Eve, 2012 and the firefighters who tragically lost their lives," said Auberger. "Officer Ritter's quick response and selflessness helped prevent further causalities or injuries; his actions truly exemplify the selfless attitude that is shared by First Responders throughout our community."
The public is invited to join in recognizing Officer Ritter.
