Greece, N.Y. – Firefighters used a boot drive to raise money for the families of the Webster Christmas Eve ambush victims Saturday.
All Greece fire departments teamed up for the fundraiser outside Sam’s Club in Elmridge Plaza. Money raised there benefitted the families of Lt. Mike Chiapperini and Tomasz Kaczowka, the two firefighters killed in the shooting.
North Greece Fire Department Chief Patrick Meyers said it’s the departments’ duty to add to the already impressive outpouring of support.
“Unfortunately it hit home, and this is too close to home, quite a tragedy,” Meyers said. “We all feel, again, we need to help some people in need, and this is what we do.”
