Rochester, N.Y. - A man was stopped at the Rochester International Airport checkpoint Wednesday morning after security detected two hand grenades in the passenger’s checked baggage.
Employees were temporarily evacuated from the baggage room. Upon closer inspection, TSA’s explosives specialists were able to determine that the items were actually realistic replica grenades.
The passenger, who was ticketed to fly to Atlanta, voluntarily surrendered the replica grenades.
There was no impact to flight operations.
