Italy, N.Y. – Rescue workers came to the aid of four teenagers Friday when one became injured during a hike.
The Yates County Sheriff’s Department says that four teens entered Clark’s Gully in the Town of Italy at approximately 5 p.m. Friday.
The sheriff’s department says that, after walking about 200 yards, 15-year-old Malcolm Makepeace lost his footing and slipped 15 feet into the gully, injuring his leg.
Naples Ambulance, the Ontario County Ropes Team, and the Maxfield Hose Company were among the rescue teams who responded to incident.
Makepeace was carried out of the gully on stokes. The remaining three hikers were able to walk away. All injuries are said to be minor.
This is the second rescue effort to take place at Clark’s Gully this week. Three Canandaigua hikers were rescued after getting lost and falling into the gully Thursday.
