Henrietta, N.Y. — Gun store owners are struggling to come up with some of their core items, ammunition, and at times, guns.

“At this point everything is very difficult to obtain whether it be hand guns, long guns, shotguns,” said Kordell Jackson of Jackson Guns and Ammo in Henrietta. “Everything in the industry has kind of dried up.”

David Jenkins runs a self defense and firearms training company in Rochester and said his students have complained about the lack of available ammunition.

“They want to get the education, they want to get the training, they want to get the safety, but the problem is they can’t get the ammunition,” said Jenkins.

Pro Gun Services L.L.C. of Victor told 13WHAM News ammunition has been hard for it to come by as well.

Some gun sellers have blamed the shortage in part on the state’s new restrictive gun law known as the NY Safe Act, others say it’s a nationwide shortage and do not feel as though the state is any different than others.
