(13WHAM-TV) - Birth control pills would be available over the counter if one group of doctors gets its way.
An American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists spokesperson says the move would prevent more unwanted pregnancies.
Group officials indicate there's more and more evidence that the pill is safe and effective.
The Food and Drug Administration says it would be willing to meet with any pharmaceutical company interested in selling contraceptives over the counter.
