Pittsford, N.Y. - Voters in the Village of Pittsford will head to the polls today to elect a mayor.

It’s an intense contest that pits Mayor Bob Corby against former trustee Trip Pierson.

The two longtime Republicans faced a number of issues during the campaign, including how voters feel about their position on a luxury apartment building planned for Monroe Avenue.

Corby and Pierson disagree on the controversial project.

“It’s a large project, and it's important that it be compatible to the character of our village,” Mayor Corby said.

“It would help the business districts,” candidate Pierson said. “It would help the citizens; it would help make this village a more walkable village by having more people.”

Polls are open from noon until nine at the Pittsford Village Hall.

We'll have the full results coming up tonight on 13WHAM News at 10 and 11.
