Syracuse, N.Y. (AP) - A Henrietta businessman has been sentenced to three years' probation, fined $4,000 and ordered to pay twice that in restitution for selling counterfeit merchandise at his North Country stores.

Federal prosecutors in Syracuse say Cengiz Gulbay, 38, of Henrietta was also sentenced last week to 120 hours of community service for his conviction for trafficking in counterfeit goods.

Gulbay operated Cool Cellular Accessories at the Salmon Run Mall in Watertown and also had two stores at the St. Lawrence Centre Mall in Massena.

In December 2010 and April 2011, U.S. Department of Homeland Security agents raided the stores and seized nearly 8,000 counterfeit scarves, handbags, holiday ornaments and jewelry being passed off as Chanel, Coach and Louis Vuitton designer goods.
