Hilton, N.Y. – Apple prices are expected to quadruple this fall, but that didn’t stop crowds from flocking to the annual Hilton Apple Festival Saturday.
Hundreds of people turned out for the 32nd annual event. The menu included apple pie, apple crisp, apple sausage, apple sundaes and – of course – apples.
Prices are up following a warm spring and ensuing frosts that killed more than half the apple crop in Western New York.
New York is the second-largest apple-growing state in the country, with nearly 700 farms.
The Apple Fest runs through Sunday afternoon at the Hilton Village Community Center.
