The high wind warning remains in effect through midday. The flood watch is in effect until noon for areas west of Rochester. A coastal flood warning is in effect for Lake Ontario through 8 AM this morning.

For today, 13WHAM meteorologists say the remnants of Hurricane Sandy will still impact Western and Central New York.

Scattered to occasional rain showers will continue through the day, no widespread areas of flooding are anticipated through Tuesday afternoon.

The high winds that moved through the region overnight will gradually diminish throughout the day. Highest wind gust recorded at the airport was 55 mph, a 60 mph gust was reported at the coast guard station.

Wind gusts near Lake Ontario may exceed 50 mph early this morning. Wave heights along the south shore of Lake Ontario area expected to subside to 7-10 feet later this morning, so the potential for lakeshore flooding will subside.
