Pittsford, N.Y. – An Irondequoit woman was killed Friday after being hit by a snowplow in the Town of Pittsford.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says it happened on 19 South Main Street around 2:30 p.m.

Police say 34-year-old Jennifer Simson was walking in a parking lot when she was hit by the plow driven by 48-year-old Doug Driscoll.

She was pronounced dead at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Simson's father, Jim DeVito, told 13WHAM News she was meeting her husband at Nothnagle Realtors to look over an offer on their house.

She was a mother of three children, the oldest being 4-years-old and the youngest only 6 months old. The DeVito family described Simson as "an outstanding mother and caring person and very community oriented."

Simson worked at Strong Memorial Hospital as an accountant in the research department. She went to Webster High School and made all-county for the swim team.

A manager at Rocky Greco Salon was plowing the sidewalk in the parking lot when the accident occurred. He told 13WHAM News that he heard Simson yell out “Hey! Hey!” to catch Driscoll’s attention. When the witness looked up, Simson was already falling. The manager ran to the truck and yelled for Driscoll to stop.

By the time Driscoll stopped, it was too late. The truck had already run over her. The manager held Simson’s head until emergency a crew arrived.

Her husband, Joshua, had been waiting at the real estate office for his wife and came out shortly after the accident.

"I tried to grab her hand as they were putting her in the ambulance, there was no response, no response at all," he said.

Joshua Simson said his wife was always the planner; the one who scheduled the weekend fun and kept the family organized.

Pittsford Town Supervisor Bill Carpenter has released a statement:

"The Town of Pittsford and all its employees are heartbroken over yesterday's events. Our condolences and prayers go out to Jennifer Simson's family as well as our employee involved. We thank the Monroe County Sheriff's Office for their dedicated work investigating this tragic event as well as all the emergency personnel who responded. It is a tragedy for her loved ones and all of us here in the Pittsford community."

The accident is still under investigation.
