(Greece, N.Y.) -- The town of Greece has hired an independent investigator to look into whether or not proper protocol was followed in two cases involving officers from the town’s police department.

Former Greece Sergeant Nick Joseph was convicted in a hit and run accident that injured a pregnant woman in august 2008.

Suspended officer Gary Pignato is accused of accepting sexual favors as a bribe.

Deputy Town Supervisor Jeff McCann, “Our goal with this investigation is to ensure that Greece residents have faith and confidence in the Greece department.”

A retired deputy superintendent from the New York State Police will conduct the investigation.

It's expected to take up to three months to complete.

DA Issues Supoena
On Thursday morning, the Monroe County District Attorney's office delivered a subpoena to 13WHAM-TV in connection with the Joseph case.

The station will turn over interview material with Greece Police Chief Merritt Rahn.

At the time of Joseph's conviction, DA Mike Green said he would investigate the officers who responded to the crash.
