Irondequoit, N.Y. - A group of people is suing the Town of Irondequoit over new boating restrictions passed over the summer.

The new rules require boaters to stay 300 feet off shore along a half-mile stretch of Lake Ontario.

The group Restore Public Water Rights argues the law makes public waters private.

The Town of Irondequoit passed the law after homeowners complained about parties and trespassing on private beaches.
