Brighton, N.Y. – The Islamic Center of Rochester teamed up with the American Red Cross for a blood drive Sunday.
The Red Cross says every 2 seconds, an American needs blood.
Blood donations are typically down in the winter months, making drives like today’s especially helpful.
"One of the reasons why Red Cross approaches us is because of the shortage during the winter months,” said Adil Ali of the Muslim Youth Group. “We decided that, in order to serve the community, it would be great to host it at the Islamic Center, and so far it's going well."
