Rochester, NY - The flu usually shows up in October, but doctors say it has already arrived in Monroe County.
Dr. Sylvia Park of the Alexander Medical Group, said her office treated the county's first case of documented flu about two weeks ago. Park says while it is early, people should call their doctors to schedule a flu shot.
This year's flu shot offers protection from both the seasonal flu and H1N1 virus.
Those who get the shot now will be protected from the flu through January, said Dr. Park.
The Medical Society says most doctors in Monroe County have received a supply of the flu vaccine.
Unlike last year there are no restrictions on who gets the shots.
