Rochester, N.Y. – The JDRF Hope for a Cure Gala helped raise money to fight Type 1 diabetes Saturday night at the Riverside Convention Center.

The event featured silent and live auctions, dancing, cocktails and a dinner. All proceeds went toward research for the disease.

Lauren Graf, a young diabetic, said the disease has had a profound impact on her life.

“When I was about 5 or 6, I realized that I would be changing what I was doing and eating healthier,” she said. “If there was a cure, I don’t think I would change who I am because diabetes is a part of my life and I wouldn’t be the same without it.”
