Rochester, N.Y. – Funnyman Steve Martin and his bluegrass band, The Steep Canyon Rangers, lead the lineup for Wednesday night’s performances with four days remaining in the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival.
Martin and his band have two sold out shows at Kodak Hall at the Eastman Theatre, one at 4 p.m., the other is at 8 p.m.
At his first show he told the crowd that he saw the billboard with his face and the words "sold out", he paused and made the sarcastic remark, "how rude".
Other highlights: high school performances from Webster Schroeder and School of the Arts are scheduled at 4:30 p.m and 5:15 p.m.
At the Harro East Ballroom, saxophonist Bill Evans and his band will go live at 5:30 p.m. Evans returns for his solo at 7:15 p.m.
In addition, at the corner of Main Street and Gibbs, Rochester-based Jazz Quartet, “The Westview Project” plays at the Verizon Wireless Festival Big Tent at 6 p.m. No advance ticket sales will be available but be sure to get there early, seating is first come first serve!
