Rochester, N.Y. - A mainstay of Rochester culture has a new assignment out of town but that does not mean Jeff Tyzik is leaving his job as Principal Pops Conductor of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.

Tyzik will also be the Pops Conductor for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. He will lead it this weekend. Tyzik holds a similiar role with orchestras in Seattle, Vancouver, Oregon and Florida.

An RPO Spokesman emphasizes that many conductors play multiple roles - that Rochester is still Tyzik's home and that he will be conducting the RPO for the premiere of one of his own compositions next week.
