Albany, N.Y. - Democrat Joe Morelle has been named as the State Assembly Majority Leader Wednesday.
That is the second highest post in the State Assembly. Morelle is a close ally of Governor Andrew Cuomo.
Morelle represents New York's 132nd district, which includes part of the City of Rochester, Irondequoit and Brighton.
He has also served as chair of the Monroe County Democratic party for years.
